Hello Readers!
Welcome back to my Happy DETours author's blog!
Moms. They come in so many different forms but the love they give is unconditional and universal. Moms make the world a better place!
For me, I have a pretty great one. She is truly the best sounding board I've ever known. From my rants, venting, and ramblings, to my hopes, joys and sorrows. She is the one who listens to it all. As a child, I was such a quiet, introverted child and teenager, but... I sure can talk now! Like for hours. Literally. But my mom always says she loves every minute of it ;)
Throughout my whole life, I have always appreciated her willingness to listen at the drop of a hat. She is always available to talk, support and give advice. Even now, as an adult with my own kids grown, I still love my long talks with my mom about everything under the sun and then some.
Being a mom never ends. No matter what. It doesn't make a difference how old you are, they will still want a text that you made it home safe, or check in about your day or share something they heard or read. I just love being a mom. It's the best job I've ever had!
One of my most favorite children's book of all time, really captures the purest love you can feel as a mother. It spoke right to my heart and is a story that I still cannot read without tears falling from my eyes. Even to this day.
Love You Forever by Robert Munsch.
It tells the tale of a mother and her child.
How she will take care of him because he will be her baby forever...
even when he is a grown man.
"While she rocked him she sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be."
~ Love You Forever by Robert Munsch
Then it's his turn to take care of her when his mom is old and ailing.
"And he sang this song:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my Mommy you'll be."
~ Love You Forever by Robert Munsch
*insert tears here.
I used to read it in the the classroom with all my students and their moms present but I could never get through it without crying or the other moms' crying. So, now it sits prominently on my bookshelf, reminding me how very true the words are in that book. The love of a mother is forever.
Thank you Mom! For all you did for me growing up and what you continue to do for me now.
"I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my Mommy you'll be." ~Robert Munsch
I love you mom :)
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
Much love and Happy DETours,
Jenn
