The Bus Station

Hello Readers,

Welcome back to my author's blog, Happy DETours!

With the time change fast approaching our evenings will be darker and cooler soon. I have always found this a perfect combination to curl up with a good book and a nice cup of hot coffee. My award-winning novel, Pretend, would be the perfect choice. It is considered a fade-to-black romance with a mystery and a twist.

If you haven't had a chance to pick it up yet you can order it online through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million. If you prefer an e-book, that format is available on Amazon. Or you can get an autographed copy on my website: jenniferconklinauthor.com.

Here's a little excerpt from my novel to whet your appetite!

Setting of scene: The bus station

"I paced around the terminal, watching the hands of the clock slowly tick by. I heard an announcement over the loudspeaker that the next bus would arrive shortly, but it felt like forever. My fingers anxiously tapped the phone in my pocket, just waiting. Waiting to see her in person. I knew we talked on the phone, but I wouldn't be satisfied until I finally saw her.

I scanned the crowd of departing passengers when my eyes landed on her. I audibly breathed a massive sigh of relief. Her eyes were red and swollen. She looked devastated. It broke my heart to see her hurt by "him" again. Anger bubbled deep down inside me.

I pushed the feeling away as I strode over and pulled Robbie into a hug. She melted into my chest and held me tight. I felt my body relax into her. I hadn't realized I was tense and nervous until I felt the ease of my burning muscles. I didn't let her go as she quietly sobbed. My heart raced when she finally looked up at me with her sad but beautiful face. Her eyes held mine as a powerful energy coursed between us. It was insane.

"I'm glad you're safe," I whispered.

"I'm glad you're here," she whispered back.

As if her gravity pulled me to her, I leaned down. She stretched up to meet our lips."

Happy DETours!
